Active people who are prone to sweating may have some built-in protection from exercise-induced asthma attacks.
Researchers from America studied 56 healthy people who had symptoms of exercise-induced asthma, wheezing, breathless or coughing in response to physical exertion, to determine whether the same mechanism responsible for generating sweat also determines the amount of water secreted by the airways.
Researchers measured the lung function of the participants before and after giving them medication called methacholine, which in someone with asthma causes the airways to constrict at low doses. Participants were also given a drug called Pilocarpine, which induces sweat and saliva production.
They found that volunteers who tended to sweat the most in response to the drug Pilocarpine were less likely to show airway constriction after being given methacholine. Heavy sweaters also tended to have greater saliva and tear production. But it does not prove that the tendency towards sweating helps shield active people from exercise-induced asthma

Children who suffer physical or sexual abuse have double the risk of developing asthma.
Several studies have found higher rates of asthma among individuals who were exposed to emotional distress and violence during childhood. To see if certain stressors boost childhood asthma risk, researchers from America followed up 1213 children who had been exposed to violence at home or in their communities. The researchers conducted household surveys and interviewed children and their caretakers to get information regarding stress and violence exposure.
It was found that nearly 40 percent of the children had been diagnosed with asthma at some point. During the year before the survey, 14 percent of all the children had seen an act of violence, 7 percent had been victims of violence, and 6 percent had suffered physical or sexual abuse. No relationship was found between exposure to neighbourhood violence or stressful life events and a child's asthma risk
